This trip is totally by motorcoach. We’re avoiding the cost of airfare, 2 days of flying and the frustration that can go with it. Instead, we’ve chosen to take a motorcoach and do fun things en route. It actually came out less expensive that way.
This trip will NOT be repeated.

Holiday magic awaits us this year in Quebec, for Old Quebec City becomes a winter wonderland at Christmastime. From the traditional European-style markets and carolers singing to the horse-drawn carriages on the snow-covered streets, you will surely feel that you’re living in a real-life fairy tale. Join us as we experience one of the most captivating Christmas experiences in North America.
Monday, December 1st – This morning we board the motorcoach with anticipation. Oh, how exciting it will be! Today we will travel to Lahaska, Pennsylvania for the night but as usual, we like to stop and explore along the way so our stop today will be in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. It’s the perfect stop for this time of year for this is where the iconic Byer’s Choice Christmas carolers are lovingly made by hand. You can watch the dolls being made, meander down an old European street and look into the windows that are decorated for the season, see the carolers that have been made since the 1970’s, and browse their shop. It’s a great place to visit. Then it’s on to our hotel for the night. (D)
Tuesday, December 2nd – After a delicious and filling breakfast, we will continue our journey north. Our destination is Burlington, Vermont. Our hotel is only two short blocks from Church Street Marketplace, one of the most enchanting places to be during the holidays. The glittering lights, festively decorated storefronts, and inviting eateries at the marketplace will immediately take your holiday spirit up a notch or two. It’s a great place to explore as you take in the sights and sounds of Christmas in Vermont. (B, D)
Wednesday, December 3rd – Rise and shine for today we cross over into Canada and travel to the capital city of the Canadian province of Quebec. The Old City is carved into the bluffs overlooking the St. Lawrence River and is often referred to as the Paris of North America. Its fortified walls, narrow cobblestone streets, distinctive French-Canadian customs and language quickly give you a sense of being in Europe, not North America.
We will begin our time in Quebec with a city tour. Since this area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is much of interest to see. Our stops will include the Plains of Abraham (scene of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham and part of the French and Indian War); the Citadelle (a functioning military installation for the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as an official residence of both the British monarch and Canada’s governor general) and so much more.
After our tour we will check into the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac for a two-night stay. From the European-style charm of the guest rooms to the restorative treatments in the spa and excellent restaurants, this luxury hotel promises an unforgettable stay. Dinner tonight will be in Old Quebec. (B, D)
Thursday, December 4th – After a delightful breakfast we will take a morning tour, stopping at Montmorency Falls, which is 1 ½ times higher than Niagara Falls. Ste Anne Basilica, which was once a shrine but now includes a chapel, will be our next stop. It is the oldest pilgrimage site in North America and has been credited by the Catholic Church with many miracles of curing the sick and disabled. For over 350 years people have gathered at this shrine that was dedicated to Saint Anne, the grandmother of Jesus. From the masterpieces in the basilica to the history of Saint Anne, this will be an extraordinary tour. Our last stop will be Copper Studio where you’ll learn how copper ore becomes beautiful copper art as you see the copper bearing rocks and magnificent artifacts from all over the world.
After an interesting morning, we will return to our luxury hotel where you can enjoy lunch on your own, stroll through the German-inspired Christmas Markets, take a carriage ride, relax with a cup of hot cocoa or mulled wine as you enjoy the festive atmosphere and Christmas music, look for that perfect gift for that special person on your list or perhaps find the perfect gift for you . . .the list is endless and magic abounds! In the evening, we will enjoy a traditional French-Canadian sugar shack dinner. (B, D)
Friday, December 5th – After a full breakfast we will begin our journey south, crossing the border back into the US. We’ll have so much to talk about as we make our way to Saratoga Casino Hotel in Saratoga Springs, New York for the night. (B, D)
Saturday, December 6th – We’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then take a driving tour of historic Saratoga Springs. This city is the site of 125 mineral springs and baths, 26 casinos, the oldest organized sporting venue of any kind in the United States (1864), the rich and famous of the Victorian era, and is the location of the turning point battle of the American Revolution. This city has quite a lot of interesting history to tell. Afterwards we will continue south, stopping in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the night. (B, D)
Sunday, December 7th – Today we’ll arrive home, having experienced the most magical Christmas adventure. The history, culture and sites will be amazing, but the European-style Christmas Market and our stay at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac will be magical. This trip is what memories of a lifetime are made of! (B)
