Travel with us to Pennsylvania and experience Sight and Sound Theatre’s production of Noah. We’ll embark on a journey with Noah and his family as they uphold the call of God to build a boat in a land that has never seen rain! Then we’ll watch as hundreds of animals enter and live inside the great ark that surrounds us on three sides of a 300-foot-stage. Forty-foot-tall sets, toe-tapping songs, professional actors and a message of hope make “Noah” a must see!
These two trips have identical itineraries, but for those who have been to Sight & Sound with us before, you will notice that on these trips we’ll be staying for two nights at the lovely Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA.
Monday, April 14th and Wednesday, September 3rd – In April, the trees will be turning green, and the flowers will be blooming. In September, the leaves can be beginning to change to those magnificent reds, oranges and yellows as we travel through the rolling hills in Lancaster. Both trips will provide us with a beautiful time to travel.
Our first destination will be Lititz, Pennsylvania to take an interesting, guided tour of the Moravian Church. You’ll learn who they are, why they are here, learn about their traditions (Putz, Lovefeast, Moravian star) plus visit the 1787 historic church sanctuary, the restored 1763 Coffee Kitchen, and Brother’s House including two Tannenberg organs. It is truly a most informative and fun tour. Then it’s off to an Amish home to enjoy dinner. (Everyone always leaves Ruth’s house saying it’s the best homecooked meal around.) You’ll also have time to walk around her farm and enjoy seeing the animals and the beautiful setting. Afterwards, we’ll travel to Hershey where we will spend two nights in the lovely Hershey Lodge. Tuesday, April 15th and Thursday, September 4th – After a delicious breakfast and a leisurely morning we will travel to Lancaster to enjoy a bit of shopping at an Amish store plus enjoy one of the best warm pretzels you have ever eaten! Then we’re off to Sight and Sound Theatre to see the production of “Noah”. With a catastrophic storm on its way, we’ll watch as Noah is given a monumental task: build a boat big enough to save his family and the creatures God has created from a flood that will cover the entire earth! It is truly a most powerful play. After a memorable performance we will travel back to Hershey and visit Chocolate World for a sweet experience. While there you can take a journey from tropical cocoa bean to wrapped candy bar on a factory tour ride and browse through their chocolate store. You have never seen so much chocolate in your life! Then we will take a guided driving tour of the city of Hershey and hear the inspiring story of Milton Hershey and learn how his Hershey’s Chocolate unfolded. From historic landmarks to uplifting stories and some tasty Hershey chocolate to nibble on along the way, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this drive. We’ll end the day with a delicious dinner before returning to our hotel. (B, D)
Wednesday, April 16th and Friday, September 5th – This morning we will visit the Milton Hershey School.
What Mr. Hershey started as an industrial school for orphaned boys that might provide them with a productive and fulfilling life, has turned into a most amazing educational setting for girls and boys, Pre-K through 12th grade, where students graduate, prepared to enter college. This experience will surely warm your heart! After this presentation we will visit Bird-in-Hand Farmer’s Market before heading home. What a wonderful trip this will be! (B)
